Those patients after being detected of having any/many of the NCDs, our team will take part in management of the disease pharmacologically and non-pharmacologically. We provide our patients with appropriate medications and make them aware to bring some changes in their lifestyle in good ways so that the progression of disease could be stopped. The doctors and the team members follow and treat the patient as per the latest guidelines under guidance of Prof. Dr. Sanjib Kumar Sharma.
We emphasize every patient to come for follow up when KHDC/BPKIHS team is available. We request our patient to remain in follow up in their local primary care level (Health Post and PHC) and receive appropriate referral as indicated. There is a protocol for the management of primary disease at PHC level and specific criteria for referral. And we also keep record of all family with phone numbers. We keep an eye on the patients for a long term via in person visit as well as telemedicine services. Although initially it was quite difficult to manage financially poor patients who are detected to have chronic disease, we managed to provide free medicines under ‘Free pharmacy” concept that was developed with drug support from local pharmaceutical houses. However, now because of availability of essentials medicine at PHC level and health insurance policy certain basic antihypertensive and OHA are available. This helped to manage patients better now.
For the convenience of the patients, we provide them with contact number, whatsapp ID, E-mail ID where they can message us with their health issues. All their queries will be answered by the doctor-on-duty under the regular guidance of Prof. Dr. Sanjib Kumar Sharma
